Everything you need behind the wheel
Your line's timetable and WhatsApp group are on the timetables page. This is the rest: your responsibilities, safety, charging, maintenance and what to do in an accident or breakdown.
- Drive responsibly, for the safety of your fellow passengers.
- Remind fellow passengers to fasten their seatbelts during the journey.
- Keep to the agreed timetable.
- Take good care of the Vanpool, as if it were your own car.
Wearing a seatbelt is mandatory — it prevents many injuries if something happens during a ride. Follow the rules of traffic law, also for your own safety. Vipre cannot be held responsible for fines or other costs arising from this.
The Vanpools are electric; a charging card is supplied with the vehicle. Charge during the working day at the Picnic site, or overnight at your hometown — charge when you can, not only when it's nearly empty.
- Vipre lets the driver know when the Vanpool needs maintenance and books the garage appointment.
- For non-urgent maintenance, contact Vipre yourself: scan the QR code on the vehicle sticker, email wagenpark@vipre.nl, or call 010 – 283 9567.
- Vipre arranges pickup (at Picnic or at home) and, if needed, replacement transport.
- For repairs outside standard service intervals, call the helpdesk.
If the Vanpool won't start or breaks down on the road, call Vipre — they send a towing service and arrange replacement transport. Stay with the Vanpool until the towing service or Vipre arrives, and hand the keys to the towing service.
- Stay calm.
- Take care of the passengers of your own vehicle (and any other people involved) first.
- In case of physical injury, always have an official police report drawn up.
- If there's any uncertainty about the cause, also have an official police report drawn up.
Follow these steps even if the perpetrator is unknown.
- Call Vipre, indicate whether the vehicle can continue driving, and inform your Picnic manager.
- Fill in and sign the claim form (preferably both parties) — don't make statements about guilt.
- Send the claim form to Vipre.
- If the vehicle can't continue, Vipre provides replacement transport within an hour.
- The driver always fills in a claim form.
- Unknown perpetrator or vandalism? Report it to the police — Vipre helps with this, often online.
- Vipre schedules the repair with the driver and arranges replacement transport.
Don't panic. Take care of your own safety. Stand still somewhere safe. Keep passengers safe. Put on an orange safety vest. Contact Vipre. Fill in a claim form if there's damage, and send it to Vipre. Helpdesk: 010 – 283 9567, 24/7 for emergencies.
Before starting, every (potential) driver fills in and signs a driver statement once. It gives Vipre insight into driving experience, with passenger safety in mind.
Vipre provides practical and theoretical instruction before a Vanpool starts. Bus-lane or hard-shoulder training is mandatory for drivers who will use the bus lane or hard shoulder.
Every vehicle carries a Vipre Vanpool manual with exact steps for emergencies and other situations.
- Use the Vanpool only to pick up, transport and drop off Vanpool participants along the usual route between home(s)/agreed locations and work location(s)/agreed locations.
- Carry all passengers designated by Vipre at the agreed time and place.
- Before driving a Vipre vehicle, submit a copy of a valid driver's licence and a signed driver statement.
- Use the Vanpool according to all applicable rules and regulations.
- Be present at the transfer/instruction of the Vanpool and sign the transfer documents.
- People not approved by Vipre driving the Vanpool.
- Using the Vanpool other than for commuting, or against applicable rules.
- Driving under the influence of alcohol or other substances affecting driving.
- Driving in unsafe or irresponsible situations.
- Pulling or pushing trailers or other vehicles.
- Transporting passengers for a fee (except on behalf of Vipre).
- Carrying goods, other than passengers' hand luggage.
- Taking more passengers than the inspection certificate allows, or loading above capacity.
- Leaving the vehicle unattended without removing the keys and locking the doors and windows, or otherwise risking vandalism or theft.
